Soper's Market, groceries and provisions. One of the 'boys in the picture (far right?) Charles Soper, was last to run the market.

Soper's Market

Bar Harbor

George E Soper started the store and ran it with his children from 1910 until 1940's, whereupon it was purchased by the Hatch family.

In the Soper's Market photo below, one of the 'boys in the picture (far right?) Charles Soper, was last to run the market. Carrol Gooch, worked there as a butcher. Not so rare in those days, but it was a true family business. There was an intention that Donald Soper would inherit the business and went to Colby to study business. World War II ended that.

Other Names Associated With This Dairy: George E. Soper, Charles Soper
